I2026. FUND .DRIVEI

From war abroad to militarism at home, the need for socialist ideas has never been greater. Help us reach our $45,000 fundraising goal!

“It’s more important than ever to support independent voices. And Spring Magazine has been a consistent voice for workers. That’s why I donated to Spring Magazine’s Fund Drive. And you can too, friends!”

Fred Hahn

President, CUPE Ontario

Amplifying the voices of the oppressed, and opening minds and hearts for readers to envision solutions to heal the trauma of real-life, industrial-sized, world-wide oppression, is key. That’s exactly what revolutionary journalism does.

Loretta Fisher

Writer & social justice fighter

“I’m an education worker, and I can easily say that Spring Magazine has been a crucial source of news and analysis for me and my co-workers. The lessons we share will strengthen us as we head into a major round of bargaining.”

Larry Allen

Education worker, OSSTF

Fund the fight for a better world

2026 has already seen US President Donald Trump launch an unprovoked and deadly war on Iran, while giving Israel impunity to bomb and invade Lebanon–all while maintaining the siege of Gaza, extending its illegal settlements in Palestinian territories.

Here at home, despite years of underfunding public services, Prime Minister Mark Carney has just slashed social spending even further to provide an unprecedented $80 billion in new money for military spending. The ongoing crisis in health care, education, child care, and housing, alongside deepening ecological devastation, has generated public anger. To save themselves, Liberals and Conservatives alike, have joined forces to blame immigrants, refugees, and international students.

More than ever, we need socialist analysis to help explain what’s happening, debunk right-wing lies and myths, and empower ordinary people to fight for a better world. Spring Magazine disseminates socialist ideas, analysis, and insights to strengthen our movements and organize activity to build the fight-back.

Centering equity

“Recognizing the centrality of oppression to capitalism centers the structures of colonization, dispossession, heteropatriarchy, ableism, and imperialism in ways that could prove strategic in widening the scope of anti-capitalist organizing… “Solidarity is the name for affirming the differences that exploitation and oppression produce within and between us; it is also the name for recognizing that every time I fight against anyone’s oppression or exploitation, I fight against my own, I fight against everyone’s.”

– Ashley Bohrer, Author of Marxism & Intersectionality

Revolutionary journalism

“The process of journalism is a process of organization. It is easy for anyone to sit in the office, browse the net and write a news story about the factory, but this is not the kind of journalism we want. You sending a report to the paper means you are engaged on the ground at the same time you are connected to the rest of the members of the movement … It is just as critical for a worker to contact the publication to spread the vital news of the strike, as it is to build barricades that will defend the sit-in.”

– Hossam el-Hamalawy, Egyptian revolutionary

Socialism from below

Capitalism can’t be gradually reformed into socialism, but the fight for reforms are essential to build towards a socialist revolution.

We don’t simply call for revolution in the abstract, but seek to build and broaden struggles for reforms so that people gain the confidence, experience and organization that can transform society.

“Between social reforms and revolution there exists an indissoluble tie. The struggle for reforms is its means; the social revolution, its aim.”

– Rosa Luxemburg, Polish revolutionary socialist
